Seba Gede famous known as Seba Baduy
Every year there is a unique tradition performed by Baduy people. The tradition is called Seba Gede or famously known as Seba Baduy. In this tradition they will make a hundreds kilometers journey to continue what their ancestors did. The place that they visited was the regent’s office and the governor’s office they called Bapak Gede. Seeing this journey, this tradition is similar to what is done by people who do Camino de Santiago in Europe. The difference is if Camino de Santiago de Compostella is aimed for a spiritual journey or personal reasons but Seba Baduy is a reverence of the Baduy people of the traditions perpetrated by their ancestors.
Puasa Kawalu (Kawalu Fasting)
Before the journey begins, Baduy people will fast for 3 months. This fasting is called Puasa Kawalu. It is done by Baduy people who live in Inner Baduy Village consists of 3 villages Cibeo, Cikertawana and Cikeusik. They will perform this fast for 3 full months. Therefore access to Baduy in this period will be closed to not interfere with the tradition.
Ritual Perjalanan (Journey Tradition)

After 3 months of fasting, the journey will begin in the morning before sunrise. They will flock walk without the use of footwear. The path they traveled was also not an ordinary path. They must follow the path that their forefathers have set.
The places they visited were the regent office of Lebak district and the provincial governor office of Banten. Every place visited usually has been provided various kinds of events such as Wayang Golek (puppet show) and other Sundanese culture. This time Baduy people also give rice, fruits and agricultural products to the regents and governors as a sign of gratitude.
