The Concept of Sunda Wiwitan
The belief of the Baduy people is a tribute to the ancestral spirits and beliefs to a power called Nu Kawasa. Their belief is often called Sunda Wiwitan. The belief of the Baduy people known as Sunda Wiwitan is rooted in the worship of ancestral spirits. Worship is then developed also by the influence of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam.
Prophet Adam as Batara Cikal
Baduy people believe that they are descendants of Batara Cikal, one of the seven gods sent from the sky to Earth. Batara Cikal, for Baduy people often associated with Prophet Adam as the first ancestor. The task of Adam and his descendants, including the Baduy, is to meditate in order to preserve world harmony.
The Role of Three Puun (Village Leaders)
Each of these Puuns (Leader) has a different role. Puun Cibeo takes care of agriculture, Puun Cikeusik takes care of religion, and Puun Cikertawana is responsible for health affairs or medicine. That responsibility applies collectively to all three villages. Local wisdom is still faithfully run by Baduy Dalamresidents. There is always a refuse to pollute the environment (land and water). The Inhabitants of Baduy Dalam do not even smoke cigarettes.

Maintaining the Teaching From Anchestor
In the life of the people of Baduy Dalam, pikukuh or custom rules are fixed prices. They, for example, will not eat any kind of food their ancestors did not eat. Habits that their ancestors did not do were abstinence. Anyone who violates customary rules will bear strict sanctions, which is fired as a resident of Baduy Dalam.
