Sawarna as a leading tourism site in Lebak, Banten
Sawarna beach is a leading tourist site in Lebak district. Located in the south, bordered by sukabumi, western Java. Currently, sawarna beach has been visited by many tourists, both domestic and foreign.
Sawarna Beach area complete with a variety of scenery such as mountains, forests with plants – rare plants, rivers with a unique cultural style, the nature of a wide range of sloping hills, steep cliffs, low lying parallel shorelines, caves, tropical forests beaches, white sand beaches, sea-based beaches and traditional harbors.
Van Gogh and The Coconut Plantation
In the village of Sawarna there is a tomb of Jean Louis Van Gogh, a cousin of Vincent Van Gogh (his tomb was only discovered around the 2000s). Around 1907 Jean Louis opened a 54 hectare coconut plantation, precisely located in Sawarna.

Sawarna as Tourism Village
Now the village of Sawarna morphed from coconut plantation to tourist village. It is easy to find many “homestays” or residents’ homes rented out to visitors. The residents’ settlements are located between coconut plantations and paddy fields. These conditions make tourists want to linger in the tourist village. Most of the population has professions as farmers, artisans, farm laborers, laborers, and traders. But since Sawarna began to be known tourists, many residents who also have a side profession as a tour guide.
